The PFS Project Benefits The Skull Valley Band of Goshute Indians

The lease of 820 acres of desert land on the Skull Valley Reservation to Private Fuel Storage, LLC (PFS) will provide the Tribe with

  • Preference in hiring tribal members who qualify for jobs at the facility;
  • Revenue for tribal government initiatives, including
    • Private healthcare for all tribal members; the closest Indian Health Services are currently more than 200 miles away,
    • Education and training,
    • Housing,
    • Improved infrastructure for future development,
    • A cultural center;
  • Job potential in related manufacturing businesses.

In addition, the PFS project will give members of the Tribe who currently live near their work in Grantsville, Tooele, Salt Lake City, and other areas, a reason to move back to the Reservation. This will enable the Tribe to preserve its culture, which is disappearing as members scatter to pursue education and work opportunities.
