The PFS Project Benefits Tooele County

After two years of careful study and negotiation, Tooele County signed an agreement with Private Fuel Storage, LLC (PFS) that ensures benefits to the county and support for the facility.

The agreement includes:

  • Compensation for administrative costs the county will incur before the facility is in operation.
  • Fees per cask during facility operation to cover
    • Emergency response training and support,
    • Law enforcement and security.

In addition, PFS and its vendors are committed to local procurement of goods and services as much as feasible. There is even the possibility that the 4,000 canisters and transportation casks needed over the life of the project could be manufactured locally, either in a new facility or through an existing steel fabricator.

The County also benefits from the more than 40 permanent jobs at the facility. PFS will hire, as much as possible, from the Skull Valley Goshute Tribe and the local community.
