"[Our organization is] well aware that disposal of nuclear waste is in the public mind as a matter of great concern. And even temporary storage of it is a matter of great concern.

"We don't believe it should be and we know that a lot of completely unscientific and nonsense statements are being made about nuclear waste by many people in the community and many people who should know better.

"And so we think we should stand out and be counted and say what we know for sure. There's another reason, which at least one or two of us feel very strongly about; we feel very strongly that some of the Indian communities have not been treated well in this country.

"But we think they have the right to decide for themselves what they want to do. And by the treaty, the state of Utah has no right to stop them and we believe that is very fundamental. If they want to have nuclear waste, let them have it and if they don't want it, no one can force it."
